South High will be welcoming back Rachelle Ihme as the head varsity coach for the women’s soccer program this Fall 2023. She was previously the head varsity coach for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Rachelle grew up in Minneapolis and has been playing soccer since she was 5 years old. She graduated from Southwest High School in 2014, and went to college at Minnesota State University of Moorhead, where she played D2 soccer for a bit. She decided to transfer to Minneapolis Community and Technical college in 2016, and was interested in continuing playing soccer at school, but was disappointed to learn that there was not a women’s club team at the school to play on. Naturally, that didn’t keep her from playing, so she played with the boys club team for two years. She now plays in adult leagues year-round all around the city. Rachelle has been coaching soccer for 8 years, has coached boys and girls ages 5-18, all at multiple different playing levels. This will be her third year coaching at the Varsity level.
